Have you ever had that dream when you are walking in a public place, a shopping centre for example, and suddenly realize you are only wearing your pyjama? I haven’t had that dream ever. I have however had the actual experience. A couple of weeks ago Essi, Camilla and I got the opportunity to do a 24-hour long pyjama party at the newly renewed Break Sokos Hotel Flamingo. The hotel is situated at the Flamingo and Jumbo entertainment and shopping centre so during our stay we were also able to enjoy all that the centre has to offer, that is an aqua park, a spa for adults only, a movie theatre, a bowling hall, 165 stores, 38 restaurants and 10 beauty salons. And the best part, we did all of it in our pyjamas.
Pyjama party in the Joy suite
Let’s start from the beginning. Break Sokos Hotel Flamingo had invited the three of us to spend 24 hours at the entertainment at shopping centre to celebrate World Sleep Day. And what better way to highlight the importance of sleep and other important issues related to sleep, such as medicine, education, social aspects and driving, than by organizing a pyjama party!
Our day started at around noon when we arrived at the hotel and got the keys to the colourful and cheerful Joy suite, which is situated in the newly opened hotel wing. In addition to the Joy theme the new wing has three other themes; the inspiring Flow theme, the harmonic Harmony theme and the bright Energy theme. All designed to meet different needs and moods.
The Break Sokos Hotel Flamingo experience
After settling in in our lovely suite and enjoying a nice little welcome snack we put on our pyjamas and headed out. Our day consisted of everything from testing out Familon hotel beds to shopping with dinner at restaurant Amarillo and a movie at the Finnkino Flamingo movie theatre in the evening. All of it in pyjamas of course. And I must say I was a little surprised that absolutely no one asked us about our outfits all day. Not even when we separated for a little while and went shopping in our own directions. Don’t get me wrong. I mean, we did turn heads, literally, but no one stopped to ask us about it. So, after a while I kind of forgot what I was wearing.
Our evening ended with some pampering and girl talk in our suite before we called it a day and went to bed. The next morning, we woke up to a lush hotel breakfast after which we headed for the Flamingo spa. I had never been there before and was super surprise by what I saw. Underneath this busy entertainment centre lies a harmonic and tranquil spa for adults only where you can just relax and forget about the rest of the world. And if you are not relaxed enough by the pools and the saunas, I suggest trying the Rasul clay mask treatment where you get to enjoy aromatic scents and mystical music in a beautiful, temple-inspired steam room whilst covered in a premium oil and clay mixture. I wouldn’t mind starting every day like this!
24h in pyjamas
So, as you can see wearing pyjamas in public isn’t a nightmare at all. Rather the opposite. I actually quite enjoyed walking around all day in my comfy H&M pyjamas and didn’t really feel embarrassed or uneasy at all. What I also really liked about the experience, was the fact that we were able to spend the whole weekend doing everything we did in our indoor clothes. We never had to go outdoors, put our coats and outdoor shoes on or walk any long distances. It was all there in one place. The Flamingo entertainment centre and the Jumbo shopping centre works really well for any kind of hotel weekend experience, whether it is a pyjama party, a romantic getaway or a work trip.
