Greetings from a very cold but incredibly beautiful North Karelia! I had some vacation days left from Christmas this year so I decided to take some time off and enjoy a good old winter holiday for the first time during my work career. So, on Wednesday morning I jumped on a train to North Karelia where my parents and my nephew were already waiting for me. Seven hours later the city lights were long gone and replaced with snowy fields and deep forests. The temperature had also dropped drastically during the train ride but even though we’ve had almost minus 30 degrees Celsius here it hasn’t stopped us from spending hours outside in the sled hill or on the ski trail. When we finally step inside with rosy cheeks and a big smile on our faces a nice dinner and a good book is all we need. Not too bad of an invention this thing called winter holidays. 🙂
